Baby Wise......

REALLY WORKS!!!!! I was starting to wonder if all this eat, wake, sleep schedule stuff I was doing was really going to pay off....but here we are at 8 1/2 weeks old and two nights in a row he has slept through the night...8 hours! YAY! And if you've done it then you'll understand when I say..I will take all the credit! whew, that was hard work! Now, hopefully we can just keep this trend up..we'll see!

Back to Work

Customers and people I run into here and there always ask me "Are you back at work yet?".... owning your own business is kind of like having a kid....once it's born your on call 24hrs a day. So needless to say I was on my blackberry in the hospital answering questions from the staff, replying to emails etc..BUT, I will say that I haven't HAD to be at work at all..and really still don't..but a few weeks ago I started really missing it so I've been going in several times a week for a few hours. The fall is super busy for us and we have lot's of exciting things going on so I'm very thankful to have a creative outlet when I'm needing it! (and a creative outlet that makes us money..even better!) Coming up we are doing the cooking demo's at the Southern Women's show, selling box lunches at The Bluff Park Art Show, Cupcakes at the Cahaba Heights Fall Festival, lots of charity events, and getting ready for the busy holiday season in the midst of it all. I actually finally finished our new Holiday Menu today...anyways, I'm rambling now..so here are some pics! Usually I just have Ryder up there in his seat but today we tried the bjorn...i can't really cook with him in it but I can get a few things done
This past Thursday I worked my first official event since the baby- Signature Chefs is a charity event that we have done the past 2 years and is really fun. It's all the top chefs in bham (which I can honestly say I'm not sure how we got in this gig..we're definitely the little peons in comparison) that come and share a signature dish. Above is the pic of all the chefs at their table's and then 250+ people came to support the event (there was an auction etc) and try out the food. It was fun to meet all the other chefs and see all their fancy creations!
Above is our table..we did mini ham, pear, and brie sandwiches and our strawberry cupcakes. Our chef, Keith Cochran, is awesome....if your from Bham, we hired him away from Che lu lu and Continental Bakery. He's been a huge blessing to the business as he runs the kitchen now that I'm not around.

We brought Ryder to the event..and these are two girls that work for us..on the left Sean, our office manager, and on the right Nicole, our pastry chef.

My bundle of JOY!

The latest with us....we've been trying to get Ryder onto some what of a schedule over the past few weeks. The feeding schedule is working out great...7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm and then whenever in the middle of the night...usually 2-3ish..then he usually wakes up at 6 or so but I don't feed him until 7 unless he's screaming. One night this week he slept from 10-4:30am and that was heaven! But unfortunately it was only that one night! Hopefully he'll drop that middle of the night feeding soon. I'm still pumping religiously (he's not a very good nurser..doesn't latch right and I don't have much milk..not a good combo) which is slightly less miserable than it was in the beginning..we'll see how long I can keep this up. If only formula was free...
So I'm a little obsessive with the camera these days....good thing for digital! Ryder is soooo much fun and has brought so much joy to our lives over the past 8 weeks! If I could skip the pregnancy part I would want another one soon!
As you can see, Ryder loves to have his hands by his face

Taking a nap in the crib...something he rarely does! usually it's the swing or the boppy

He's turning into quite the chunk these days- I'm loving the rolls on his thighs and his chubby little cheeks!
Above, he likes this new position of sitting in my lap facing outwards....he's really intrigued by the TV too...maybe I should be worried?!
Such a happy baby!

Born Alive

I'm not usually one to watch videos posted on facebook but I watched this one as I held my precious little sleeping baby in my arms and wow.....talk about some tears....and talk about conviction- besides pray about it every once in a while I do so little as a believer for the abortion issue. I hope I will now.
