Customers and people I run into here and there always ask me "Are you back at work yet?".... owning your own business is kind of like having a kid....once it's born your on call 24hrs a day. So needless to say I was on my blackberry in the hospital answering questions from the staff, replying to emails etc..BUT, I will say that I haven't HAD to be at work at all..and really still don't..but a few weeks ago I started really missing it so I've been going in several times a week for a few hours. The fall is super busy for us and we have lot's of exciting things going on so I'm very thankful to have a creative outlet when I'm needing it! (and a creative outlet that makes us money..even better!) Coming up we are doing the cooking demo's at the Southern Women's show, selling box lunches at The Bluff Park Art Show, Cupcakes at the Cahaba Heights Fall Festival, lots of charity events, and getting ready for the busy holiday season in the midst of it all. I actually finally finished our new Holiday Menu today...anyways, I'm rambling now..so here are some pics!
Usually I just have Ryder up there in his seat but today we tried the bjorn...i can't really cook with him in it but I can get a few things done
This past Thursday I worked my first official event since the baby- Signature Chefs is a charity event that we have done the past 2 years and is really fun. It's all the top chefs in bham (which I can honestly say I'm not sure how we got in this gig..we're definitely the little peons in comparison) that come and share a signature dish. Above is the pic of all the chefs at their table's and then 250+ people came to support the event (there was an auction etc) and try out the food. It was fun to meet all the other chefs and see all their fancy creations!
Above is our table..we did mini ham, pear, and brie sandwiches and our strawberry cupcakes. Our chef, Keith Cochran, is awesome....if your from Bham, we hired him away from Che lu lu and Continental Bakery. He's been a huge blessing to the business as he runs the kitchen now that I'm not around.

I love the Bjorn pic. He can barely see over it, so funny! He is changing so fast, esp. between like 5 to 7 weeks!
